Off the Route Editing/Re-Write Session!

久しぶりに長期に渡るドキュメンタリーの仕事も一通り落ち着き、やっと自分の長編映画プロジェクト「Off the Route」に舞い戻り。現在、脚本の再度読み直し、編集（特に英語版）および書き直し作業してます。ブログご無沙汰です。

基本的な部分は変わらないんだけど、脚本を書き上げて２年、様々な人の意見や感想を聞き、今やっと新しく客観的な目で作品を見直すタイミング。ありがたくも段々と回りに協力してくれる人がプロ・アマ問わず増えてきてくれ、名の知れたプロデューサーなどに脚本を読んでもらえる機会も出てきているので「これです！！」と胸はって出せるものを書き上げないと。

思えば最初の原稿を書いたのが約５年前（学生時に書いたこのバージョンは今のとはかなり違うけど！）、２年前に書き上げた時も「これだ！！」と自分の中ではもちろんなったんだけど、よくよく読み直すと話しの流れで少し不自然な部分があったり、セリフが投げやり気味だったり、キャラクターの行動がありきたりだったり、単純に英語の文法が間違ってたり（笑）で、色んな人に色んな事を突っ込まれました。が、ストーリー自体は老若男女各国首脳陣（笑）揃って面白いって言ってくれるんだよ〜（ん、何人かには嫌われた）ここで辞めるわけにはいかないじゃん。

そんなこんなで色々試行錯誤。未だにこれはいつになったらできるんだ？？とかオレはなんでこんな事をしてるんだ？？とか思うけど、しょうがないじゃん、運命だとしか思えないんだから。去年の冬とかは「完成させなきゃ」という使命感でかなり焦ってたけど、戦う相手のサイズがよく見えてなかったんだなあ。そんな自分を信じて色々手伝ってくれた皆さん、ありがとう。忘れてないからね。そして確実に前には進んでるよ（予想より遅かったが）。

時間も経つと当然似た様なテーマの映画や「パクっただろ！？」と言いたくなるシーンとか（もちろん、偶然）も出てくるので、そして自分自身で最初に見えた強烈なビジョンが薄まっていくから、あんまりのんびりはしてられないんだけどね・・・。

Wrapped on a long JPN documentary project (it's about an early film history and 1900's U.S. history),
and finally back to the development of my feature film "Off the Route".


Editing dialogues and actions, Re-writing of some scenes. Tightening up. Lots of Patience. This project's been taking way too long (almost obsessively), but so many people are already supporting me through this, loving the story, and just can't back off. 


Since the first draft written 2 years ago, there's been so many good feedbacks (and as you know I'm stubborn sometimes...). Now things look more clearly, and I can read it separate from myself, looking at it more objectively and analytically. And my career and job situation are a little better, having more cooperation from people who are more tactful, influential, business-minded yet understanding and good spirited people. 


So thank you everyone, those who's been supporting me through this painful process, and believing me in this...things are still in progress (really) and I'll make this happen. No, WE'll make this happen!

Audition!

オーディションするってえのにこの大雪。（会場じゃないです、自宅の裏庭です笑）

 

会場はタイムズスクエア近くのオフィスをかりたってえのにこのピンぼけ。

こんな中お越しいただいた役者の皆様、感謝です。ここに存在する世界の中で存在していない世界をみんなで作るって、結構すごいことだなあと、毎日起こる（起こす？）出来事の中でかみしめています・・・。それが観てもらう人に広がって意図が伝わるっていう事がもちろん大事なんだけど。

Off the Route Meetings

長編映画「Off the Route」のほうはプリプロで色々やっております！
現在、トレイラーならぬ、Teaserという紹介映像を製作中。
仕事に完全に穴開けてるっつ〜のにやる事が山積みです・・・。

Been busy with Pre-Pro for the feature film "Off the Route". Meetings after meetings, with art dept, graphic team, etc.... 

英語台本を編集してくれているジャスティン。色々お世話になりました。本人、母親が日本人という事もあり日本語もぺらぺらなので、キャラクターの肉付けでも色々提案をしてもらいました。現在上海でバケーション中。
Justin Clemons. Great script editor, especially when he's a half-Japanese himself! (that's one of our main characters). Creative ideas....to make character more believable. This is the final editing session, before he took off to Shang-Hai! Thanks Justin!


そしてグラフィック／デザインチームはADV Associates。現在Teaserを共同製作中。社長のアレッシオはミラン出身の生粋のイタリアン。センスも素晴らしい！
Graphic Team is ADV Associates, led by very sensible Italian dude Alessio De Vecchi. Great ideas. Currently creating a teaser/ logo!

第一回ミーティング。コンセプト／業務内容の説明。

1st meeting. Explaining the concept of the film and what they can do for the film.

そして作業中。写真に載っているジェマちゃんはフォトグラファーとして活躍中。現在老ワーイーストサイドで個展中。
Work in progress.... the lady in the green is Gemma Flemming, a very talented photographer who's also involved. She's having a solo exhibition in Lower East Side now, check it out!

Again back on the track, OFF THE ROUTE.

TVプロジェクトが一旦落ち着き、自分のバイリンガル長編映画「Off the Route」に早速舞い戻り。

無休・無給の勝負がしばらく続きます。かなり資金面でもビハインドになってしまい、２月に撮れんのか？？と不安な気持ちをかき消すように、毎日資料作りにコンピューターとにらめっこ。寝る時間になっても頭が冴えてねむれませ〜ん。（現在朝４時半）

現在映画の内容はあまり一般公開はできないのですが、小出しにアップしていくので楽しみにしてくださいな。

Ahhh, a little behind the schedule, catching up.

Haven't slept well past few days, not only for working, but also for such an stoked mind! It's 4:30 AM and I'm blogging.
